The $600 JEM

“Fair warning, dude," he said. That was the first the thing he said to me. "Your guitar is weird." I don't remember his name anymore. As far as I was concerned, he was the Guitar Tech, and that was it. Guitar Tech was really good at his job. He came highly recommended and had all the stereotypes: Big beard, long and greasy hair, eyes that looked in two directions at once. He was the real deal. In my memory, I picture him wearing a monocle and smoking a half-finished cigarette with its ashes hanging by a thread, but I know for a certainty I'm making up the monocle.
